C64 version 2.2 now has support for your iCADE or compatible controllers such as iControlPad or Gametel
It’s been a long time coming, but we’re excited to announce the immediate availability of Commodore 64 for iPhone v2.2, live in the App Store. The headlining feature is support your iCADE and compatible devices like the iControlPad or Gametel for precision gameplay. For many of these games, timing was everything and having access to hardware controls will make those high scores more attainable. We have tested Commodore 64 with iCADE, iControlPad and Gametel devices.
Which games are supported?
All games are supported and your iCADE will function as a joystick, just like an original Commodore 64. For this release, any button will act as a fire button. To further enhance the experience, we do plan to map the START button for launching games, but for now you’ll need to press the on-screen start button.
You should follow your manufacturer’s instructions on pairing your controller with your device. Once paired, you can launch Commodore 64 and play the games using your weapon of choice. Be aware that some controllers must be configured for iCADE mode before they can be paired.
You can play Commodore 64 on your iPad with an iCADE. Be sure to press the 2× button for an improved experience.
You need version 2.0 or later of the iControlPad firmware and must enable iCADE mode. Firmware is available from the iControlPad web site. As of version 2.0, enabling iCADE mode is achieved by ensuring your iControlPad is off; hold down A,B,X and press the START button to power back on. Your iControlPad will remain in this mode until you switch to one of the other supported configurations, all published on the web site. To toggle the on-screen keyboard, hold down the START + SELECT + LEFT SHOULDER buttons for 3 seconds.
You should refer to the user guide for instructions on how to enable iCADE mode. To toggle the on-screen keyboard, press the START and SELECT buttons simultaneously.
